Embark on a profound journey across the Karakalpak desert to Muynak—once a bustling port town on the shores of the Aral Sea, now famous for its poignant 'Ship Cemetery'. This full-day private expedition takes you deep into the history, ecology, and culture of western Uzbekistan.
On the way to Muynak, explore the mystical Zoroastrian Chilpik Kala (Dakhma / Tower of Silence), standing high above the Amu Darya river valley. Continue to the ancient Mizdakhan Necropolis near Nukus, a sacred pilgrimage site filled with centuries of legends, subterranean mausoleums, and unique architectural relics.
Upon reaching Muynak, walk among the rusting hulls of abandoned fishing vessels stranded on the former seabed. Visit the Muynak Aral Sea Museum to understand the environmental catastrophe and the human story behind one of the 20th century's greatest ecological shifts.
